Cat Bohannon
Author of the New York Times best selling book Eve: How the Female Body Drove 200 Million Years of Human Evolution
Cat Bohannon is a New York Times bestselling author, speaker, and academic who got her PhD from Columbia University. In her book "Eve: How the Female Body Drove 200 Million Years of Human Evolution," she talks about the often overlooked topic of how female bodies evolved over millions of years.
The book answers fascinating questions like why women live longer than men, why they go through menopause, why girls do better in school – but only until puberty hits, and whether the "female brain" is really a thing.
Eve picks up where books like Sapiens left off, providing a much-needed perspective focusing on the hugely important – but often ignored – role of the female body in our species’ story.
A Dinner for Primates on Sept. 18th
At Responsive Conference 2024, Cat will host a Dinner for Primates on the first night of the event. This is a participatory dinner party – equal parts dinner, science experiment, and comedy special.
The night is based on the ‘Perception’ chapter of Cat’s book, which talks about the differences in perception between the sexes. Did you know that female bodies are better at taste and smell than male bodies, for instance?
And that’s just a few of the interesting facts we’ll put to the test at Dinner for Primates. Attendees are going to experience what it means to be in a differently-sexed body – with an orientation towards curiosity, generosity, and playfulness. It’s all about exploring and being aware of what we are feeling.
There will be things to smell. Stuff to eat. Alcohol. What’s the difference biologically and in a felt sense an hour in? The optional event will be available at an additional price of $150.
Let’s find out what human connection means in this space at this immersive dinner experience that gives you a sense of what it’s like perceiving from someone else’s perspective. Get to know your fellow attendees outside of the confines of a typical conference.
